Preparations for the 12th David Popper International Cello Competition have begun! 

We are excited to announce that the 12th David Popper International Cello Competition will take place in the autumn of 2027 in the historic Thury Castle of Várpalota, Hungary.

A new chapter begins: from now on, the competition will be held under the auspices of the Popper Heritage Association (PHA) as part of David Popper’s musical legacy.

Key information for contestants:

• Official Announcement: Expected in Spring 2027 (including repertoire, rules, and jury).
• Registration: Will open in early 2027.
• Categories: The age groups will follow the established traditions of the competition.
